There are three common ways to stick frame a house. Site built, Modular construction, and Panelized walls.  They are all " stick" frame houses and structurally are similar when completed, it's just how you choose to get it there.  Modular construction is fast becoming a bigger piece of the new home construction pie as more people become educated to the fact the a Modular constructed home is a "stick" built house, it's just not site built.  While the site builder has more opportunity to be custom, they cannot come close to matching the efficiency of building in a controlled environment, with jigs, high tech equipment,quality control, and access to materials purchased in high volume at much lower costs.  As we forge ahead in the 21st century modern technology begs us to build more efficient resulting in a lower cost, higher quality, energy efficient new home.  Like a customer just recently said, "why would anyone build any other way?".  The answer is simple, when people begin to understand that a home built with modular construction is a "stick" built house, then there is no other way to build, it just makes sense.  For example, you could go to a mechanic and ask him to have all the new components for you new car delivered to you garage and in about 6 months he could build you the same new car that you could have purchased down the street on a dealers lot.  However with modern technology and engineering that would be an absurd idea.  Yet many people still stiff arm the idea of putting the same technology and engineering into building a house.  If you are planning on building a new home you owe it to yourself to look at the facts and join the fast growing group of people choosing technology over tradition.
